AP Week 10

by @ 4:00 pm. Filed under All Cats Everything

The story of the 2012-13 college basketball season (sort of) Wyoming Cowboys lost last night to Boise State and fall to 13-1.

The University of Kentucky Basketball team continues to inexplicably fall in the polls as the Cats now sit at 32nd right behind Maryland who we beat what seems like oh so long ago. Fun Fact: Maryland is actually 13-1, so we are their only loss. I’m assuming that wins over Vanderbilt and Texas A&M should catapult the Cats into the next top 25 but you never know. Here’s the latest rankings:

5 Indiana 13-1 1,381
6 Kansas 12-1 1,322
7 Syracuse 14-1 1,211

13 Creighton 14-1 789
14 Butler 12-2 761

17 Notre Dame 13-1 547
18 Kansas State 12-2 472
19 Georgetown 10-2 441
20 North Carolina State 12-2 438
21 Cincinnati 13-2 375
22 Michigan State 12-3 267
23 Wichita State 14-1 135
24 UNLV 13-2 113
25 New Mexico 13-2 102

1) Big Ten: 6 Teams Ranked – Average Ranking of 10.667

2) Big East: 5 Teams Ranked – Average Ranking of 13.4

3) Mountain West: 3 Teams Ranked – Average Ranking of 21.667

4) SEC: 2 Teams Ranked – Average Ranking of 10.5

5) ACC: 2 Teams Ranked – Average Ranking of 10.5

6) Big 12: 2 Teams Ranked – Average Ranking of 12

The PAC 12 still find itself outside of the top 6 in these power rankings and the Missouri Valley Conference is knocking on the door with Wichita State and Creighton both in the top 23. The story now is still the Mountain West, however, as Wyoming is/was threatening to join UNLV, New Mexico, San Diego State as the fourth team in the top 25 out of the conference.

It the famous words of Donald Rumsfeld it’s going to be a long, hard slog. But, it’s one we can make and by the end of the year we’re going to be one of the top ranked teams. I think the main reason for that will be our inside tandem of NN and WCS. I just don’t think any other team can match that. So, the climb starts tonight.

Thanks guys. I think we could find ourselves at #15 if we win the next 6 games. My prediction

Before last night I thought winning the next six games was in the bag. Now, well not so much.

  5. John Burke Says:

Yep, that was a rough one. Tomorrow might be fairly interesting
