Less than two weeks ago before the Fiesta Bowl, Chip Kelly’s Oregon football team dealt with rumors of their coaches impending departure for one of the NFL’s 500 coaching vacancies. After his team smacked Kansas State 35-17, the questions of his future came almost immediately. After a few NFL interviews, Kelly announced that he would be staying in Oregon next year. He had crushed a few NFL owner’s dreams and the team with a thousand uniforms let out a sigh of relief.
Then I turned on the TV this morning. Chip Kelly decided to take the Philadelphia Eagles head coaching job. What’s worse? Rather than discuss his lack of loyalty and deceitful decision, media members are talking about Michael Vick’s chances of staying with the team and operating Kelly’s high-octane offense. HE LIED TO THE SCHOOL, PLAYERS, AND RECRUITS THAT MADE HIM A SUCCESS. I was uneasy just by the talks before the Fiesta Bowl, but he had the right to talk to NFL teams after the game and I believed that he would take one of them. If he was going to do it, THEN HE SHOULD’VE DONE IT A WEEK AGO!!!!!!
Kelly is a clear example of what is bad in the world. Adding insult to injury, a guy that raised NEARLY HALF A BILLION DOLLARS FOR CANCER is being fed to the dogs currently for doping. I could care less that Lance did PEDs- he had cancer and did plenty of harmful drugs, let him have a few of these. Even if you are hardcore against steroids and PED use (I could careless, I haven’t regularly paid attention to baseball since the steroid era), you have to admire Lance’s character. He knew that he didn’t do it all by himself, so he used his power to become a humanitarian that started the strangest fad in my life-time.
Today I am not proud to be an American.
