As if the horrendous showing in the National Championship wasn’t enough, former Notre Dame star Manti Te’o apparently is struggling with reality as well. University officials in South Bend released news earlier today that individuals within the football program and the athletics department as a whole were told on December 26th that Manti’s alleged late girlfriend was in fact, a hoax. In any other case, this wouldn’t be that interesting of a story but for Manti the idea of the passing of his girlfriend was used as an inspiration for many people around the country. Although Te’o publicly denies any involvement in this sick joke, there is substantial evidence to the contrary. ESPN reports that Te’o is scheduled to hold a press conference from South Bend tonight at 8 PM, so… let’s hear the young man out before we jump to any conclusions.

Manti’s girlfriend is about as real as his Heisman and National Championship trophies.. Looks like football isn’t the only thing AJ McCarron can do better than Te’o either

There is indeed substantial evidence to the contrary. History can serve as a powerful indicator of present events. I know people who have perpetrated a similar hoax.Then, those people are subject to be ridiculed, even around the holidays. If it turns out Manti actually knew about the hoax, then he should be yanked out of school by his parents.

If they do yank him out of school….he’ll probably show up in the news again after a year or so. Crazies like that never go away.
