Oprah’s Friday Basketball News

by @ 12:00 pm. Filed under All Cats Everything

Poor, poor Oprah. In an effort to hype up what we thought would be the biggest sports story of the year, let alone the week, Oprah sat on her one-on-one with Lance Armstrong for three whole days. In that time span, the Manti Te’o hoax exploded all over the Internet, and now Oprah has learned her lesson. There, there, Oprah. Manti will probably be calling you soon. Hang in there.

The Cats travel to Alabama tomorrow to face Auburn and the “Orange Out.” Seriously, why did we schedule both orange teams in the same week? Poor planning, UK Athletics. Auburn is 8-8 overall and 2-1 in the SEC, but the Cats will need to avenge their road woes in order to leave with a victory.

-Ready to see some UK recruits in action? Dakari Johnson faces off against Andrew Wiggins on March 3rd in the Red State Blue State Series in Freedom Hall. Tickets will go on sale Monday through Ticketmaster. Click here for more information.

Rajon Rondo will be the starting point guard for the East in the 2013 NBA All-Star game. Along with starring in a SportsCenter commercial, this makes for a pretty good week for the former UK point guard, he of the extra-large hands. He is the only UK representative on either squad.

– Coach Cal needs your help in the Infiniti Coaches’ Charity Challenge. Vote for him in the South Region. The coach’s charity with the most votes will receive $100,000.

Is it true that Karl Towns got a quad double last night?

No, I don’t think he did. He has had a quad double but it wasn’t last night I don’t think. My sources (read wife) need to improve.
