The UK track and Field team decided not to travel to Albuquerque this weekend for the Cherry Silver meet so it was an off weekend for the Cats. They will get back in action this next weekend at home again in the Rod McCravy Memorial meet. The Nutter Fieldhouse didn’t get a break from competition this weekend like the Cats however, as the Wildcat Track Classic was held for high school athletes. This meet is the kick off for the High School Track season and it was kicked off in style, especially in the Men’s 2 Mile run.
Listed are the highlights from the day long meet:
Women’s Mile: The 2 Mile wasn’t the only highlight of the day as Maggie Allen of Sacred Heart laid down an impressive run in the Women’s One mile race where she beat all competitors by over 19 seconds en route to a meet record time of 5:06.85. This time beats the previous record of 5:09 set by Kentucky Track great Emma Brink.
Men’s Mile: Tre’tez Kinniard, a recent Indiana University commit (smh) won the Men’s One Mile with a 4:22.21 to start off what should be a big time season for the 800 meter star from Butler.
Women’s 60 Meter Hurdles: Brianne Brown of North Oldham fell .01 seconds shy of breaking the meet record in the Women’s 60 meter hurdles as she won the event with a time of 9.22 seconds.

Adair showed her versatility as she also won the Women’s 200 Meter Dash with a meet record time of 25.34 seconds.
Men’s 60 Meter Dash/400 Meter Dash: Jazz Hayes, a senior from Central High School broke 7 in the 60 Meter Dash en route to a convincing victory of 6.92 seconds. Hayes turned around to win the 400 Meter Dash as well with a meet record of 49.21 seconds.

Men’s 4×400 Meter Relay: North Hardin’s 4×400 Meter Relay squad was able to set the meet record for the event with a time of 3:28.44. They won by a comfortable margin of 5 seconds.
Women’s 4×800 Meter Relay: Sacred Heart’s 4×800 Meter Relay team also set the meet record with a time of 9:56. That’s a very impressive time for this juncture of the season.
