Celebrate the end of January with these sports!

by @ 7:00 pm. Filed under All Cats Everything

It is hard to believe in just four days January will be over.  I must say, I won’t miss it much at all.  Here is what’s happening this week!

Men’s Teams:

The men’s basketball team will work to get off the struggle bus with two away games this week.  The first being at Ole Miss on Tuesday at 9 o’clock, this game will be featured on ESPN and UK IMG radio.  Next, they’ll travel to College Station, TX to seek revenge on the Aggies.  This game will be Saturday the 2nd at 6 and just like the Ole Miss game it’ll be featured on both ESPN and UK IMG radio.

The tennis team will face the University of Oklahoma on Sunday in Lexington at 1 o’clock.  Maybe Oklahoma’s mascot Sooner Schooner will make an appearance.

Women’s Teams:

The UK Hoops team has a bye week and will resume play on Sunday, February 3rd against the Georgia Bulldogs.  This game will be at Memorial at 2 o’clock.  Fans can also catch the game on the SEC Network and UK IMG radio.

The gymnastics team has a competition this week against the LSU Tigers.  Hopefully they can become the third team at UK to defeat the Tigers this month.  The competition will be held in Memorial on Friday at 7 o’clock.

The tennis team will travel to Huntington, WV on Friday to take on Marshall at noon.  Hopefully they will stop by Jim’s Spaghetti to carb up beforehand.  On Sunday they’ll return to Lexington for their match against Penn State at 10 a.m.

Co-ed Teams:

On Friday and Saturday the track and field team will participate in both the Notre Dame Meyo Invite in Notre Dame, IN and the Frank Sevigne Husker Invite in Lincoln, Nebraska.  John Burke- mind explaining to me how they’ll be in two places at once?

On Saturday February 2nd, the rifle team will verse West Virginia.  The rifle team has won all competitions this season except one, this will be the last competition before the NCAA Qualifier.

Also, on Saturday the swimming and diving teams will travel to Cincinnati in their meet against the Bearcats.  This is the last meet before the SEC Championships take place in College Station later in February.

What events are you most excited about? Let me know in the comments or @HChildersKSR

  1. John Burke Says:

Haha the sprinters, jumpers, throwers will go to one and the distance team will go to another. That’s my guess at least
