Monday Basketball Roundup: The Marshall Henderson Edition

by @ 12:31 pm. Filed under All Cats Everything

I’ll be honest, I laughed really hard when this happened. I can’t help but like a kid with swag like that. Especially when the school on the wrong side of it is Auburn. What are you guys in a huff about Tiger faithful? Don’t act like this is the first time that you’ve been on the business end of a basketball beatdown. Act like you’ve been there before. Because you have– many, many times.

NO MORE THOUGH. Marshall Henderson is now my mortal enemy, and he will remain as such until the Cats are through with him. And on that note, the news:

-The big news of the days is that after a one year hiatus, the UNC/UK rivalry has been renewed for two years. The Cats will travel to Chapel Hill next year on December 14th to take on Roy Williams and Co. The Tar Heels will then return the favor by coming to Rupp in 2014. Now would be a good time to buy stock in wine and cheese.

-Another week of crotch-to-face dunks and 7 blocks per game, another SEC freshman of the week award for Nerlens Noel. In addition to the 7 blocks, Nerlens averaged 9 points and 10.5 rebounds against Alabama and LSU. I have a feeling this won’t be the last time that the flat top feller takes home that award before all is said and done.

-Speaking of Mr. Ketchup, it looks as if we might have to wait a little bit longer before we see Mustard back in the lineup. On the SEC teleconference this morning, Cal said that Willie Cauley-Stein will be making the trip down to Oxford, but it is unlikely that he’ll play. Get well soon, WCS. We need you.

-To read the entirety of Cal’s teleconference appearance, Kyle Tucker has the transcript for you to look at at your leisure. It’s chock full of quotes on this year’s Ole Miss team, so it’s definitely worth a read.

-Tucker also relayed some quotes from Andy Kennedy on our boy Nerlens. He called Noel an “incredible, incredible talent at the basket,” and said that his 6 block per game clip in SEC play is “mind-boggling.” As to the Anthony Davis comparisons? Well, he said “I’m not sure even he was the presence Nerlens Noel is at the basket. Completely changes the game.” What, are trying to get us to like you or something, Andy?

-In a not-so-great development, Julius Randle was at NC State this weekend, and he called the visit his “best yet.” Clearly, Randle is a huge fan of custom street art. Or, I guess it’s possible that he just likes good basketball (the Wolfpack walloped UNC in Raleigh while he was there). Either way, it appears that Cal has some ground to make up  with the big man.

Ok, well that’s pretty much it for the news. Go Cats. Beat Ole Miss.
