Earlier this year, I posted about Marcus Lattimore and his knee injury. This kind of injury is detrimental to a team not only in the physical and depth departments, but is also hard to think about mentally. I personally witnessed a teammate tear her ACL when we were playing in the state lacrosse semis, and can still remember the sounds, and my thoughts after the injury. Losing Nerlens Noel, who was at most times the heart of this team, will hurt for this young Wildcat team. Here’s the post, and some information that can better help us understand this injury.
Marcus Lattimore is the star running back for the South Carolina Gamecocks, or should I say was… Lattimore tore his ACL, PCL, MCL, LCL and also dislocated his knee against the Tennessee Volunteers on Saturday. The injury was so gruesome that a towel was placed over his leg while he was still on the field.
As I watched him crying as he was being carried off the field, I could not help but wonder what would happen if something like this happened to the University of Kentucky basketball team. Lattimore also sat out all of last year because of an injury to his other knee. Rather than do a write up of my opinion on the matter, I wanted to leave the question open for discussion, and just provide the video of the injury, and what happened afterwards, as well as a picture that depicts all the tendons that were damaged so that you all can understand the severity of the situation.

Someday a brilliant engineer(s) will develop some piece of equipment that can better protect knees. We hope. NN is very fortunate his injury does not approach the severity of Lattimore’s. Last night and this morning I was expecting that it was as severe. Nevertheless his injury is awful.
I wonder if surgery has advanced to the point where there is a possibility that his knee may be stronger than before. I think it is possible although I’m certainly no professional. Shoulder surgery for me returned a 110% shoulder. I think Adrian Peterson’s knee may be stronger than before. I need to do some research on this just for my own information. Maybe another commenter on here could enlighten me.
Good post. Educational.
