
The Cats begin their march to Omaha at noon against the Bulldogs of UNC Asheville in Spartanburg, S.C. and will send sophomore southpaw and preseason All-American A.J. Reed to the mound. Reed made five starts and 16 appearances in route to a 5-3 record and 2.52 ERA last year and was named a consensus freshman All-American. Reed’s last appearance on the mound came in an a nine inning losing effort in the infamous 21 inning game against Kent State in Gary.

UNC Asheville is coming off a 25-30 (12-12, Big South) season and return four starters. The Bulldogs will start senior right-hander Dean Roland who was 5-6 with a 3.92 ERA.
