Full Results for the Mobile Bay Intercollegiate

by @ 4:00 pm. Filed under All Cats Everything

UK’s golf team wrapped up their first spring season tournament in disappointing fashion, finishing 10th out of a 16 team field that included SEC teams Auburn, LSU, Mississippi State, and Vanderbilt. Unfortunately UK finished behind all of the them, only defeating Louisiana-Lafayette, Middle Tennessee St., Louisiana Tech, Akron, Illinois State, and Arkansas State. Auburn won the event by shooting an 861 over the three days (285-292-284). Auburn had two players finish in the top 3 overall, including the winner, Niclas Carlsson, who went 4-under for the tournament.

UK’s final results are as follows:

T16 Chase Parker: 220 (74-71-75)

T27 Ben Stow: 222 (76-72-74)

T54 Cody Martin: 229 (79-77-73)

T56 Will Bishop: 231 (77-76-78)

T68 Steven Powers: 236 (78-80-78)

Clearly I’d be happy with numbers like that, but in the dog that is the SEC, numbers like that don’t cut it. Ben Stow (who didn’t even play that bad, actually), took his disappointment to twitter after the match yesterday, tweeting: “Massive struggle in my first college tournament!!! Really disappointed but the only way is up!! #alwayslearning”

If all the guys can keep an attitude like that, then I see no reason why the Cats should improve by leaps and bounds going forward. With the talent this team possesses, I think they will. You can check out the full team results with each round by each player here. But anyways, here are the team place results:

1. Auburn: 861

2. LSU: 865

3. Illinois: 870

4. Mississippi State: 875

4. Wake Forest: 875

6. Memphis: 876

7. South Alabama: 882

8. Southern Mississippi: 889

9. Vanderbilt: 892

10. Kentucky: 901

11. Louisiana-Lafayette: 905

12. Middle Tennessee State: 907

13. Louisiana Tech: 909

14. Akron: 920

15. Illinois St: 923

16. Arkansas St: 926

The ‘Cats look to right the ship next at the USF Invitational that takes place March 3rd thru the 5th in Tampa Bay. I’ll be sure to keep you posted on all things that happen from now until then.
