We had stretches of great play. We had stretches where we couldn’t buy a basket. But what matters most is that the Cats rebounded from Saturday’s historically bad loss and got a much needed win in Rupp tonight. Willie Cauley-Stein led the way with 20 points (8-10 fg, 4-7 ft) in his best game as a Wildcat. Archie Goodwin had a strong performance as well, scoring 16 points off of 7-14 shooting. The players looked focused and played with intensity throughout the game. They’ll undoubtedly need to improve in order to achieve an NCAA birth, but tonight was a great step forward for these Nerlens-less Cats.
That’s it for now, stick around for the full wrap-up later tonight. And remember, the season ain’t over till’ it’s over.
