There’s still a lot of track to be run/jumped/thrown/vaulted but UK has for sure sent three athletes to Sunday’s finals with stellar performances this afternoon.
To start things off, Keith Hayes ran a 7.84 in the 60 meter hurdles to qualify in 4th place for Sundays finals. Teammate Darryl Bradshaw came in 12 hundredths of a second later to finish 7th and also qualify for the finals.
Matt Hillenbrand won his heat in the mile event to automatically move into tomorrow’s Men’s mile. Matt ran 4:08.78. Robbie Scharold ran a huge personal best of 7 seconds en route to a 4:11.38 performance. It will be announced soon, as to if he has qualified for the finals.
Cally Macumber, the star of the indoor track season thus far, won her heat in the Women’s mile to move into the finals sporting a time of 4:47.37 from prelims.
Keilah Tyson squeaked into the Women’s 60 meter dash finals with a time of 7.41. Her precise time of 7.401 was just barely ahead of Florida Freshman Kyra Jefferson’s time of 7.405.

That looks like a really nice facility and track. And infield, if that is what it is called. I wonder if it is possible to dissemble something like that or if it is permanently assembled and fixed in place. I gotta believe it’s permanent.
Our athletes had some good times. I’m going to look up and see where they are from.

It would be good to feel what that surface feels like underneath your feet. And what it feels like to take the turns with that banking. I’m sure you’ve experienced that but me, never.
