While the Big Blue Nation’s stomachs this past weekend were in knots, the baseball team went down south to take on the Gators for a three game series in Gainesville. While down in the land of Disney and retirement homes, the Cats won their first series at Florida since 1999. Let’s get on to some of the key points:
Results:
Tuesday: Kentucky (6) – Ohio (3)
Friday: Florida (4) – Kentucky (1)
Saturday: Kentucky (11) -Florida (5)
Sunday: Kentucky (6) – Florida (2)
- Sophomore stud Austin Cousino had an absolute monster of a week against Ohio and Florida. Cousino batted an insane .471 (8-for-17) with a double, home run, and four RBI’s. Oh, and he also was a perfect 3-for-3 in stolen bases. In Saturday’s win alone, Cousino went 3-for-5 with a double, home run, hit by pitch, and the four RBI’s discussed last sentence. His batting average on the year is sitting at a pretty .325 with 22 runs, four doubles, four homers, and 15 RBI’s to go alongside his perfect 8-for-8 stolen bases mark.
- Old southpaw Corey Littrell is the pitcher of the week after his rubber match win on Sunday. Littrell put in eight innings of work, during which he only allowed one run, no walks, and seven strikeouts all while picking off a Gator runner.
On the season, Littrell is pitching himself to a nice ERA of 2.84 behind a perfect 3-0 record so far on the year. Over his career, Littrell also holds a perfect 7-0 mark in rubber match pitching as well.
