After todays huge Julius Randle news, in which another McDonald’s All-American was added to John Calipari’s roster it led me to think….with this much success in both men’s and women’s basketball at Kentucky, how many of these great high school players will we have on our teams combined next year? The answer: 16. Between the UK men’s and women’s teams combined there will be a whopping 16 McDonald’s All-Americans donning the blue and white next year.
For the men: Julius Randle (freshman), Andrew Harrison (freshman), Aaron Harrison (freshman), Marcus Lee (freshman), Dakari Johnson (freshman), James Young (freshman), Alex Poythress (sophomore), Archie Goodwin (sophomore), and Kyle Wiltjer (junior)
For the women: DeNesha Stallworth (senior), Samarie Walker (senior), Jennifer O’Neill (junior), Janee Thompson (sophomore), Bria Goss (junior), Linnae Harper (freshman), and Makayla Epps (freshman)
That’s absolutely insane. I’m not sure how the other schools in the nation, but I think it’d be hard to find anyone else with numbers anywhere close to this for both their men’s and women’s teams combined. Goes to show ya that the Bluegrass is a hot bed for basketball and that the talent realizes it too.
