Monday Basketball Roundup: The “asteroid hitting earth” edition

by @ 12:37 pm. Filed under All Cats Everything

File this under: “Things I’d rather see than a Louisville national championship parade.” And yes, that’s an asteroid hitting Earth and wiping out civilization. Any more questions? Good. Go Michigan.

On that note, your UK basketball news:

“You want to win a national championship, come to Kentucky. Enough said.” First of all, FACT. Second, that was Julius Randle’s recruiting pitch to Mr. Andrew Wiggins while they were together in Chicago for the McDonald’s festivities. I may be going out on a limb here… but I think we’re going to like Randle, you guys.

-Want more from Randle? Ok. What does he think about the idea that it’s hard to create one’s “own legacy” at UK when surrounded by so much talent? His response: “I went because I knew there’d be a lot of other guys every day helping me get better. Whatever I have to do to help my team win, that’s what I’m worried about. There were times when Michael Kidd-Gilchrist didn’t start and he was the second pick in the draft, so I don’t think that really matters.” BURN, Nick Wiggins.

-Speaking of talent, Kentucky’s Mr. Basketball Dominique Hawkins is finally set to announce his college decision. According to coach Allen Feldhaus Jr, Hawkins will announce Wednesday morning at 8AM from Madison Central High School. With Archie Goodwin and Ryan Harrow on the way out, all signs point to a UK commitment, but he also holds offers WKU, Purdue, Murray State, South Carolina, and Morehead State.

-April 8th, 2013… Mark this day on your calendars, boy and girls. It’s the day that the undefeated talk officially started to heat up. Mr. SEC is among the first to question if the feat is legitimately possible for next year’s super team, but they certainly won’t be the last. Prepare accordingly.

OK, given what might be about to happen tonight, I think it’s best that I leave you with that thought. Think positively, Cats fans. Oh, and… GO BLUE.
