***Welcome to the KSR/KSR College Championship Week Challenge. Over the next 10 days, posts will go up on KSRCollege.com that are conference tournament “previews” of each of the 30 conference tournaments in the NCAA. Each day’s post will go up the day before the Tournament begins (with one exception) and you will have until the opening tip of the first game to get your winner picks in. All you do is log into your account and post a comment in the comment section with the winner. It is that easy.***
The Basics: The 2012 ACC Tournament will kick off tomorrow (Thursday) at noon with the No. 8 seed Maryland taking on the No. 9 seed Wake Forest at 12 ET. The championship game will be held on Sunday at 1 ET on ESPN. Phillips Arena in Atlanta will play host for the tournament, and North Carolina holds the No. 1 seed and first-round bye. Other teams with first-round byes are Duke (2), Florida State (3) and Virginia (4).
The Interesting Players: Remember CJ Leslie? The guy that we desperately needed to come to UK? Yeah, not so much anymore. Anyways, he’s playing for NC State now, and he’s doing a pretty good job. Except, you know, he’s on a team that isn’t exactly stellar. Also, watch out for Florida State’s Bernard James – he’s been a monster in the paint recently, and will be a great match for pretty much any big guy in the ACC.
The Favorite(s): Duke or North Carolina. Obviously. Even if they weren’t the favorites, the national media would tell us they were. Just kidding. Love you, ESPN. In all honesty, North Carolina is the better team and should pull out a tournament title, barring anything drastic. But, this is March, and we all know that anything can happen.
The Other Guys: Contrary to popular belief, Florida State has a legitimate shot to win the tournament title. The Seminoles beat both UNC and Duke in regular-season play, and Coach Leonard Hamilton just won the ACC Coach of the Year award for turning around the team. Count me as one who would like to see anyone but UNC or Duke win. But, chances are, we’ll see something similar to this in the championship game:
If you have no desire to win the KSR Championship Week Challenge, and you want to pick a random underdog just for the heck of it, pick Boston College. Vegas has their odds at 100-1 to win the tournament, which basically means it’s impossible. But just imagine if they beat Duke in the championship game:

Voting closes at the tipoff of the Maryland-Wake Forest game tomorrow (Thursday) at noon ET.
