University of Kentucky Track and Field
The UK Track and Field teams need your old shoes!
Soles 4 Souls is a non-profit organization that ships shoes to those who really need them. All types of shoes are needed! Since spring is here & summer is upon us, let’s gather some tennis shoes, flip flops, and other comfy shoes to be donated to people who need them more than we do.
Where can I donate the shoes?: The Johnson Center, the CATS (tutoring) center at Memorial, or the Shively Training Facility.
When can I donate shoes?: This has been going on since February 1st and is ending April 27th.
Who should I contact?: Josh Nadzam at jmnadz2@uky.edu or Luis Orta at ortaluis15@hotmail.com.
All 12 SEC schools are participating in this challenge, and Kentucky collected over 2,000 pairs of shoes last year. This year, we want UK to win! Take a minute to browse your closet or stop by a local shoe store and bring your shoes to campus in Lexington. How gr8 it is to see UK athletics joining philanthropies and doing community service. It’s hard enough to be a Division I athlete and a full time student, but to also get involved in charity work is something that shouldn’t go unnoticed.
Luis Orta, a senior distance runner from Venezuela. He broke records as a freshman and has lead the Wildcats to many victories. Read about all of his accomplishments at UK here.
Josh Nadzam, a senior middle distance runner from Pennsylvania. In 2010, he won the CATSPY award for Community Service. He also has had an outstanding career as a Wildcat, to see all of his awards and accomplishments visit this link.
Thanks UK Track and Field for all of your hard work & for organizing this event to help those in gr8er need than us!
