(Snap) Back to Reality (oh there goes gravity)
Tomorrow marks the beginning of the most important and dreaded week in a college student’s year: Finals week. The library is packed full of too many people trying to cram as much material in their heads as possible, coffee and adderall sales and distribution are rampant, and Kennedy’s is about to buy back thousands of books from students at 25% of what they were sold for 8 months ago. Finals week is not only a stress filled nightmare (one of the many consequences of procrastination and academic apathy,) but also marks the end of the greatest time of the year to be a college basketball fan, for in the next coming months there will be no entertainment and joy comparable to what was experienced in early April.
Today I spent entirely too much time trying to figure out what I was going to write about. Hours passed and I had still come up with nothing. Eventually I forced myself to sit down and figure out what I was going to do, and I decided that since I needed to meet my deadline I was just going to regurgitate some NFL Draft news/coverage with the hope of receiving minimal scrutiny from my superiors here at KSRC. Despite my efforts, I could not bring myself to write a story. Frustration ensued: “There’s nothing to write about” I said to my brother, to which he responded “Write about that.” I took his sobering advice.
Looking back at the past couple of months I have to say that I have been spoiled as a Kentucky fan. This entire semester has seemed like a dream and every day it becomes harder and harder to remember. I hope that in the future my memory does not fail me as the events and emotions that I was fortunate enough to experience this semester may never be topped. Here I am less than a week away from the end of the semester and I can’t help but already long for what was only weeks ago. I know that it is in my best interests to be looking ahead and preparing myself for next week, but I can’t help but look back at the past. At least back then I had plenty of things to write about.

There are two things people care about; other people and their
relationships. You can write about future players and recruits
and we will lap it up. Add a dash of conflict, a slice of suspense
and you are golden.
