American Pie writer graduated from UK?

by @ 7:29 pm. Filed under All Cats Everything

As I’ve mentioned before, I am from Northern Kentucky, a gorgeous family-friendly area just outside of Cincinnati. As you might imagine, nothing too exciting ever happens around here,  but this afternoon when I came bursting through the doors of my family home, my mom greeted me with some “news”. She tells me that she works with the mother of “the guy who wrote American Pie!”.

Brad Riddell, a former Northern Kentuckian, wrote “American Pie: Band Camp”, and “Road Trip: Beer Pong”. I’m not going to lie- I’ve never seen any of these, and no, the American Pie that he wrote didn’t even include the actors from the original series, but it did gross $7 million. A younger and more popular Josh Hutcherson is also from NKY (always seen wearing UK or Reds attire in LA!), but Josh didn’t go to UK, Brad Riddell did.

Brad graduated from Lloyd Memorial High School (played the tuba in the marching band) before going on to the University of Kentucky, and later University of Southern California for his master’s in Screen Writing. He is the founder and co-director of a “not-for-profit” film education company called The Kentucky Film Lab.

Riddell’s newest film “Crooked Arrows” is about a high school Native American Lacrosse team, check out the official trailer:

Looks intense. Graduation is Sunday: official ceremony for Wildcats to become alum!
