We’re only two days away from one of Kentucky’s greatest traditions, the Kentucky Derby. While everyone is leaving school, heading off to Louisville to view the race from the infield at Churchill Downs, I’ll be stuck at the Richmond Road Applebees, bartending until 1 AM (feel free to come view the race and have a corona! Happy Cinco de Mayo!)
Past that, we can examine the actual field and begin to make all the speculations about who is going to win. Right now, the favorite is Bodemeister is the favorite, standing at 4-1 odds. The horse is aiming to be the very first horse to win the race without having raced one time as a two-year old.
Past Bodemeister, Union Rags is in at 9-2, and is followed up by the unbeaten Gemologist at 6-1.
Union Rags—my personal favorite and overall best shot at a Triple Crown—has Julien Leparoux on his back, and has already won once in that situation.
Calvin Borel, a Kentucky Derby veteran and several-time winner, will be on Take Charge Indy, who stands at 15-1.
I’m still doing my research, but to start, these are the horses to be keeping an eye on!
More coming tomorrow!
