The chips are starting to fall for the 2012 recruiting classes, and Kentucky still appears to need one more piece for the puzzle. Anthony Bennett has been at the top of most people’s wish list for quite some time. He would add another solid post presence to compliment Nerlens Noel. The common theory behind Bennett’s recruitment now is that UNLV is the leader, with Oregon close behind. When Bennett eliminated Florida from his list of possible destinations, many thought that Kentucky would take the top spot. That hope is dwindling as more and more recruiting gurus seem to negate that line of thought.
With the announcement today that Mark Lyons, a Xavier transfer, will attend Arizona, the list of possible pieces for Kentucky’s 2012 recruiting class is shrinking. Julius Mays (transfer from Wright State) and Amile Jefferson seem to be the two most likely candidates for Calipari. Mays is a sharp shooting guard who could fill the void being left by Doron Lamb. Amile Jefferson, though not quite as talented as Anthony Bennett, wouldn’t be a bad back up plan assuming Bennett ends up on the west coast.
With Calipari’s history in recruiting, one has to think that if he wants/needs one more player to complete the class, he can get it. Calipari has seemingly missed on a few players that he really wanted this year though, including Alex Oriakhi. Now that the list has been trimmed, and the pool of possible players has become so small, Calipari and his coaching staff will likely move to lock up at least one of the two aforementioned players.
If you could only pick one, which player would you prefer Calipari sign? Or would you take either at this point to ensure more depth and talent on a thin roster?

Mays. We need backcourt depth more than anything else.
