In what is the first of three days of competition down in Baton Rouge, Louisiana for the Track Cats, the distance squad has gotten off on the right foot.
Super Senior Walter Lutrell placed 4th in the Men’s 10k with a time of 30:08.86. The 10k is not a commonly raced event for Luttrell so this is a change of pace for Walter, who, in placing 4th captured the 9th best 10k mark in UK school history. Walter’s finish gets the Cats some solid points on day one of competition. Just for reference, the pace for this 6.25 mile race breaks down to 4:50 miles. I dig that.
Walter Luttrell and Allison Peare were the standouts in Friday’s competition
Sophomore 800 specialist Allison Peare qualified for the 800 meter finals with a career best and program 5th best time of 2:06.03!! The Finals of the Women’s 800 will be held Sunday at 5:40 pm ET.
After today’s events the UK men sit in fifth with five total points. Lutrell was the Wildcat’s lone point scorer but there were very few events today. The Women aren’t on the board because UK didn’t have any Females participating in the 10k, the only scored running event so far.
