Football Player Profile: Alvin Dupree

by @ 5:10 pm. Filed under All Cats Everything

A player I feel will stand out in the fall is Alvin Dupree. You remember him, right? He blocked the field-goal attempt that helped Kentucky finally beat Tennessee after a verrrry long 26-game losing streak to the Vols. He stands at 6 feet 4 inches tall and weighs around 229.

Now that Ridge Wilson is no longer on the team Alvin will be our go-to hybrid linebacker when a tackle needs to be made. He racked up 21 tackles last season as Wilson’s backup, which is very impressive for a freshman. He knows that we are going to rely on him to be as perfect as possible in the fall. During spring practices he did extra drills, came in to practice early and left late. He talked with press during the spring and said, “I’m just trying to be a perfectionist. I’m trying to take advantage of every opportunity.” Joker said in a after practice press conference that he knows Alvin will be “the next big-time linebacker here. No doubt.”  It seems like everyones eyes will be on Alvin in the fall. His attitude is right. He can talk the talk, I just hope he can walk the walk. I can’t wait to see what this season has in store for him!
