It’s been about a year since we welcomed the new UK president, Dr. Eli Capilouto, to the Wildcat family. He, of course, took the place of Dr. Lee T. Todd, Jr., whose presence at U of K definitely made campus more student-friendly. His wife, Patsy Todd, embraced the role of “First Mom” of the university, and always had a knack for making students feel welcome.
Dr. Mary Lynne Capilouto has proven herself a formidable replacement. As you can see in the video above, she really loves to get involved with the university and with students. The Capiloutos live in Maxwell Place on campus, and are doing a wonderful job of acclimating to the Lexington community. “We thought we could make a life here,” Mary Lynne stated when her husband took the job.
It has yet to be determined if the new First Mom will hand out cookies if students knock on the back door of Maxwell Place, as Patsy was known to do, but I certainly plan on finding out soon.
Happy Mother’s Day, UK First Mom!
