If you’ve had the slightest contact with mankind over the last few days, you’ve probably heard a lot about the possibility of Anthony Davis playing with the US National Team at the 2012 Summer Olympics in London. The USA is always a top contender for the gold medal, and there’s no doubt that Davis is one of the most talented players in the world. We certainly wish Davis the best of luck in the quest to make it out of the potential player pool and into the top twelve, and it would be great to have another Wildcat bring home gold. But, just in case Davis doesn’t quite make the cut this year (which would be a serious lapse in judgment on the part of the national team, in my opinion), no worries. There are plenty more sports to choose from, and with Davis’ size and skills, the US can surely find a place for him somewhere.
Here are 5 other sports that Davis could compete in at the Olympics:
1) Canoe/Kayak Sprint
Okay, but really, imagine Davis alone in a small boat trying to propel himself forward as fast as possible. The guy has natural oars for hands. After Davis wins gold in this event, we’ll reconsider what we call the front of a boat. Forget the bow. Here in Kentucky, we’ll call it the “brow.”
2) Gymnastics
Anthony Davis in tights. There’s a good chance that either a) the world would end or b) everyone else would drop out immediately. So, if the US doesn’t win gold with Davis on the beam, at least no one else would either.
3) Fencing
Somehow, it just isn’t fair when your opponent can still reach you when he’s standing ten feet away. Heck, they might not even give Davis a sword, and I’m still convinced he’d have no trouble bringing home a victory.
4) Volleyball
He’s so tall and long, they might not let him compete. Oh, well. Even then, though, he’d make a great net.
5) Boxing
I wonder if anyone’s ever won a bout without touching their opponent’s face. If anyone’s going to jab Davis in the chops, the guy better have some impressive hops (or a slingshot).
Maybe it would be best if Davis was just part of the USA basketball club, where he belongs. I guess that would be the most practical option, but an Anthony Davis floor routine is almost too good to pass up.
Go Cats. Go USA.

Heck, let the man compete in all of them! As long as he doesn’t forget to change out of his tights before the basketball game, all is good in the world. Go Cats! Go ‘Merica!
