Julius Mays started out playing for NC State for two seasons, and then transfered to Wright state to play his junior year, now he is transferring to Kentucky to finish out his college career. There are multiple reasons behind a player deciding to transfer, usually though, they will transfer if they are not getting the playing time they want, not liking the program as much as they thought, or if they don’t feel like they are getting in a better position to be drafted. Julius Mays’s dream is playing for the NBA, he said in an article recently that he had almost given up on that dream. One can assume that once again one of the main reasons Kentucky landed yet another recruit was for what Calipari can do for his draft stock. Kentucky was in need of Mays, he is an outside shouter that gives us the depth that we were previously lacking, but Mays is in desperate need of Kentucky as well. Calipari recently said that “You have about as much chance to get drafted as getting hit by lightning.. unless you go to Kentucky.” This once again shows that if you’re a college athlete looking for your shot in the NBA, Kentucky is the place to be.
