Some of our companions were hit hard this past week with some out of the ordinary occurrences. The lesser of these involved a bear being loose on the University of Tennessee’s campus. Then the University of Florida’s track team was flying back from winning the outdoor track and field NCAA championship when a window on their plane cracked. Athletes from Alabama, Georgia, Mississippi St. and Florida St. were on the plane as well. The plane made a rough landing but thankfully no one was hurt.
The saddest and most heart wrenching is the shooting that occurred at Auburn where 3 people were killed, including 2 former University of Auburn football players. The two players killed are Ed Christian and Ladarious Phillips who both played on the 2010 national championship team. Current player Eric Mack, was also injured from the shooting but is expected to make a full recovery. ESPN has an article that explains the situation and what exactly happened.
I can’t imagine the pain and suffering this university must be going through right now. Kentucky is a member of a conference that is experiencing 2 tragic losses. Let’s all keep our fellow SEC teams in our thoughts. Hopefully things start looking up for the SEC soon.
