My travels across Europe brought me to Barcelona on Sunday, just in time to watch Spain and Italy in the Euro 2012 finals. The bad news? It poured down rain the entire night, which is apparently a very rare occurrence in July. The good news? Spain easily defeated Italy touching off celebrations that reached levels not seen since Lexington in early April.
A chorus of car horns sounded all across the city as thousands upon thousands of Spaniards filled the streets to celebrate their nation’s third major soccer football championship in a row. They chanted, they sang, they waved flags; they lit flares, fireworks, and fires in general.
If Lexington and Barcelona ever throw a party together, I want to be there.
Happy 4th of July everyone.
Go Cats. Go America.
