Table Tennis Update

by @ 4:00 pm. Filed under All Cats Everything

The fast paced sport of table tennis is well underway in the Olympics and has provided some great games and thrills since the games kicked off in London. Unfortunately as expected the USA has not performed well in the early goings of the sport.

Timothy Wang:

The lone representative on the Men’s side lost his first match of the Olympics to Kim Song Nam. Unfortunately Kim is from…North Korea. At least he will be forever viewed as a hero for eliminating the lone American from the Olympics.

Ariel Hsing:

The sixteen year old played in front of her friend Bill Gates but still came up short in the third round. She was playing Li Xiaoxia one of the favorites to win the gold medal and was close to pulling off one of the biggest upsets in Olympic table tennis history. She ended up losing 4-2 but it was a solid showing for the teen who has a bright future in the sport.

Timo Boll

The lone non-asian in contention for the gold is still going strong. Timo plays today at 5 and you can watch him try to reclaim his spot as the number one player in the world as all games can be watched on NBC.com. Only three rounds remain after today.

I’ll be back when the gold medal games are decided and then to preview who the favorites are to win the doubles matches.
